Description
Chateau La Pointe is the third-largest property in the Pomerol appellation with 23 hectares of vines. The 2022 La Pointe, matured in 50% new oak, has a tightly wound blackberry- and bilberry
scented bouquet that is very well defined with nicely integrated wood. It offers a lovely crushed violet aroma that gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pleasing sapidity, hints of black olive and touches of orange rind. It’s structured and quite classic but with sufficient flesh on the finish.
This is a very fine, sophisticated Pomerol that will age well in bottle.
84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (50% new). Best enjoyed from 2027 through 2047, allowing the structure to soften.
Chateau La Pointe can be enjoyed on the young side with decanting.
Young vintages can be decanted for an average of 1 hour or so. This allows the wine to soften and open its perfume. Older vintages might need very little decanting, just enough to remove the
sediment. Chateau La Pointe is usually better with at least 3-5 years of bottle age.
