Description
Not officially a First Growth, in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, it was classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Grand Cru Classé). However, it is widely considered one
of the absolute finest estates in Bordeaux, and is famous for commanding prices and respect that routinely rival those of the official First Growths.
A highly praised Bordeaux-style red blend from the Château Angélus estate in Saint-Émilion. Widely celebrated for its elegance, this vintage comprises 60% Cabernet Franc (its highest percentage ever) and 40% Merlot, resulting in a refined profile.
The wine offers a deep garnet-purple colour and a highly perfumed bouquet of black raspberries, wild cherries, dark plums, violets, and subtle warm spices. It is medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins, perfectly integrated oak, and a remarkably long, precise finish.
Half of the old-vine Cabernet Franc is matured in wooden foudres rather than traditional barriques, yielding unprecedented purity. It has become associated with the James Bond films, a 1982
vintage featuring in Casino Royale and a 2005 in Spectre.
