Description
Traditionally the finest wine of the Médoc after the first growths. The talented wine-maker is Thomas Duroux who always produces a pure, smooth and elegant wine with (for the Médoc) a high proportion of Merlot in the blend. Since 2014 the vineyard has been certified biodynamic and yields have been very low.
The 2022 Palmer has one of the most exotic bouquets from Margaux, yet it is still compelling: black cherries, violet, cassis and juniper. Wonderful definition, but unapologetically extravagant.
The palate is medium-bodied with plush, velvety tannins matched by a silver thread of acidity. Real weight and density, this is an ambitious Margaux laden with style and panache.
Best after a decade in bottle and will age gracefully for 30 to 40 years. Highly rated by major critics, including 99 points from Falstaff and 98 points from other fine wine experts.
